Educational Workshops for schools
The Weather Forum welcome around 200 children from schools
and offer them to take part in various thematic workshops by three
organizations and three associations.

WEATHER-CLIMATE

Eumetsat in cooperation with Météo-France
"From Weather to Climate"
EUMETSAT is the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites.
Its mission is to provide national weather services of its member data, satellite images and products essential for meteorology and climatology. Professional from EUMETSAT and Météo-France explained the role of these data and how they operate.
Meteo Swiss
"The mini weather office"
Using their "working tool", Meteo Swiss explained how they develop a weather forecast and how it is "decoded" to allow its use for a TV weather report.
World Meteorological Organization
Natural Disaster Reduction
Natural disasters can be avoided. For the WMO, prevention and mitigation of natural disasters is a top priority.

Société Météorologique de France (French Met. Soc)
How heavy is a cloud?
The clouds contain huge amounts of water. How do they not fall on our head, like our ancestors the Gauls feared? Understanding clouds is to understand the weather, nice weather or severe storm, but also the water cycle and its influence on climate.
ENERGIES

Association J'aime ma planète
The impact of our consumption on climate
This participatory workshop aimed to raise awareness of the ecological impacts of our consumption, particularly on climate change. Through four objects, students analyzed the energy behind their lifecycle (from design, raw material extraction, manufacturing, transportation, consumption, recycling, and management at the end of life).

WWF Geneva and Panda Club
What is your carbon footprint?
The carbon footprint is a measure of the pressure
from by human over nature. This tool estimates the
planet's surface needed for a population to
meet its consumption of resources and absorb
waste and pollution generated. Children tested their
knowledge with the 10 questions game about carbon footprint.

Ozzy and Zoe Ozone, defenders of the Planet
The ozone layer is a shield that covers Earth and protects us from harmful UV rays. It is composed of ozone molecules, like Ozzy and Zoe which together form a safety net that blocks most of these dangerous rays. Ozzy and Zoe Ozone, defenders of the planet, came down from home through the stratosphere for a few hours at WMO, to help children understand what ozone and ozone layer hole are and why we must protect from sunlight.

SPACE

European Space Agency
Earth from Space
This animation made discover the role of weather satellites in case of extreme weather events. Children had to measure the influence of climate change on the oceans (increased ocean temperatures and result in rising sea levels ...), local climates, the diversity of environments...
